The Federal Government has stepped up the implementation of its National Policy on Anti-Bullying as part of efforts to create safer, more inclusive and supportive learning environments for schoolchildren across the country.
The renewed commitment was reaffirmed during a sensitisation workshop organised by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), aimed at strengthening school safety and promoting students' well-being nationwide.
The initiative aligns with the vision of the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, to improve school safety and ensure secure learning environments across the country.
Speaking at the workshop, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Aisha Garba, who was represented by the Deputy Executive Secretary, Hon. Olajuwon Rasaq Akinyemi, urged students to report cases of bullying, stressing the campaign's message: "If you see something, say something."
He encouraged both victims and witnesses to speak up without fear, noting that timely reporting would help schools respond effectively to incidents of bullying.
The ministry said sustained public awareness campaigns and stronger enforcement of the National Policy on Anti-Bullying have contributed to a reduction in reported bullying cases in schools.
It added that the Federal Government would continue to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders, improve reporting mechanisms and ensure effective implementation of anti-bullying measures to safeguard learners and promote safe, inclusive and learner-friendly schools in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
