Today, the Kano State Governorship Election Complaints Court is set to make a decision regarding the dispute between Abba Gida-gida and Gawuna.

Specifically, this court will address the appeal filed by the APC, aiming to challenge the election victory of Governor Abba Yusuf from the NNPP in the May 2023 election.

On May 20th, Professor Ahmad Doko Ibrahim, the Chief Collector of Kano governorship election results, announced that Abba Kabir received 1,019,602 votes, while Nasiru Gawuna secured 890,705 votes.

This significant development has garnered attention not only within Kano State but also across the entire country, given Kano's position as the second-largest state in terms of voter population in Nigeria.

In response to this heightened interest, security forces have intensified security measures in the state capital. They've issued warnings against engaging in any form of rioting before, during, or after the court's decision.
