Diplomatic Delegation Visits NAHCON’s Makkah Office Over 2025 Hajj Preparations
A diplomatic delegation from the Nigerian Embassy in Riyadh has paid a working visit to the Makkah office of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to assess the progress of preparations ahead of the 2025 Hajj exercise.
The delegation, led by Minister Counsellor Muhammad Sulaiman, was received by the Makkah Deputy Coordinator of NAHCON, Mr. Alidu Shutti, who represented the Chairman/CEO of the Commission, along with the Saudi Liaison Officer, Ustaz Abubakar Lamin.
The purpose of the visit was to receive updates on the ongoing arrangements for the Hajj and to strengthen cooperation between the Embassy and NAHCON in ensuring a successful and hitch-free pilgrimage.
During the engagement, Mr. Shutti briefed the delegation on key activities undertaken since the arrival of NAHCON’s advance team in Makkah. He appreciated the Embassy’s continued support in facilitating consular and logistical services for Nigerian pilgrims. He disclosed that more than 40,000 Nigerian pilgrims have already been transported to Makkah from Madinah, with the remaining expected to arrive in due course.
The Embassy delegation also included Minister Counsellor Abdulazeez Ibrahim Hong and Administrative Attachés Abubakar Aliyu and Lawal M. Baba.
On NAHCON’s side, the meeting had in attendance the Deputy Director of Makkah Accommodation, Bilkisu Awah; Assistant Director Jummai Zainab; and other staff members of the Commission’s Makkah office.
The meeting highlighted the importance of continued synergy between Nigeria’s diplomatic mission in Saudi Arabia and NAHCON to ensure that Nigerian pilgrims enjoy a smooth and spiritually rewarding Hajj in 2025.
