THE Social Media was recently AWASH with the tale of the decamping of the Enugu state Governor, Peter Mbah, from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
THE Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, along with some APC state governors, lawmakers and chieftains of the party, traveled to to receive the governor and all the ‘elected’ coucil chairmen in the state, as well as the ‘hundreds of thousands of his supporters’ who decamped with him.
THE decamping of the governor, joining the BANDWAGON of those who also pitched their political camps with the RUINING party, clearly INDICATES that the governor is in politics to serve ONLY himself, but NOT the people of state, who ‘elected’ him into office.
HE claimed he had joined the APC ‘so as to bring the South East into the mainstream Nigerian politics’. But political watchers refer to the governor’s move as a ‘function of self interest’.
INSTEAD of Governor Alex distancing himself from a political party that has done nothing to most citizens but brought PROGRESSIVE poverty, hunger and hardship to the country, he rather CHOSE to ‘SECURE’ a ‘GUARANTEE’ for a second term in office, and possibly Senatorship from a there.
PRESIDENT Tinubu appears to be very INSECURE, hence his DESPERATION to have EVERY politician in the APC. He may NOT be UNAWARE that NOT only is his regime a CURSE to Nigeria NOT the blessing he wants the world to believe, but that he will have NO place to hide once he is OUT OF OFFICE. His successor will NOT allow the massive CORRUPTION that was the hallmark of the preceding regime and allow it to go away unpunished.
HE appears desperate to coerce every politician of note to be in the ruling APC. Despite the futile efforts of their PROPAGANDA machines to portray the regime as a CARING one, the suffering in the country tells a different story. The reality on the ground is unmistakably there for all to see as opposite of what they CLAIM.
ONE would have expected the Enugu state governor to remain in his party, and give the people ‘Dividend of Democracy’, instead of decamping to the ruling APC so that the South East may ‘join Nigeria’s mainstream politics’. It hoped that ‘mainstream politics’ would produce food on the table of the citizens of the South East.
MEANWHILE, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyson Wike, has of recent been in the news for the wrong reasons. Many videos clips are trending on the internet speaking of Sawore’s case in a US court on the minister’s claim that he knew nothing about the purchase of a house in Florida.
AS it turns out, the FCT Minister wired the money for the purchase of the house to his US-based wife, when he was governor of Rivers State. The house was purchased in the name of one of his sons. The wife is herself a lawyer, who should have avoided such transactions, which in law, are considered illegal.
OTHER video clips claim that some Yoruba supporters of the president have asked the number one Nigerian citizen to drop the FCT minister and replace him with someone else, because the later’s value in the regime has DEPRECIATED to the level that he is no more an asset but a liability.
SOME other video clips yet alleged that the presidency is considering replacing the minister because his weekly press conferences are NOT held to promote the regime, but rather to promote HIMSELF.
May God FREE Nigeria from the control of those whose ONLY interest is to advance themselves, NOT the country’s interest.
