Former Ivorian football star Didier Drogba has strongly condemned the disrespect and insults directed at African players, emphasizing that such treatment should not be taken lightly.
Reacting to the recent abuse targeted at Nigerian international Ademola Lookman, Drogba described it as an insult to all Africans. He urged the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to take decisive action to restore respect for African players.
“We are the ones who work the hardest, yet we are constantly disrespected. I call on CAF to take the necessary steps to ensure our players are treated with dignity,” Drogba stated.
He also referenced the ongoing challenges faced by Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen at Napoli, warning that similar mistreatment could continue if left unchecked.
Drogba's remarks have sparked discussions on the need for stronger protections for African footballers in global competitions.
