Oando Foundation to Complete Renovations of Schools in Katsina and Daura by December
The Oando Foundation has pledged to complete the renovation of schools in Katsina and Daura by the second week of December, as announced during a high-level meeting in Katsina State. The foundation, which has been a long-term partner in improving education in the region, is actively working on interventions to enhance infrastructure and learning conditions in public schools.
During the meeting, Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa, Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, expressed her gratitude for the support of the Oando Foundation. She emphasized that the foundation’s contributions are vital to the state's educational development. “We visited the Family Support School in Daura, where the company approved renovations for the primary school, nursery section, and sports facilities. They are already progressing with similar projects in Katsina, with about 60% of the work completed,” she stated.
The Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, also lauded the efforts of Oando Foundation, noting that the foundation has been a critical partner in addressing educational challenges. “The government cannot do it alone. The interventions of well-meaning organizations like Oando Foundation help bridge the gap in providing quality education to all children, regardless of their background,” he remarked.
Tonia Uduimoh, the Programme Manager of Oando Foundation, provided further insights into the organization’s work. She highlighted that Oando has been supporting education in Katsina for over a decade, starting with the General Muhammadu Buhari School in Daura. "Our mission is to bridge the educational gap in underserved communities. We have been working across 23 states, including Katsina, where we are supporting seven schools," she explained.
Uduimoh also confirmed that after assessments, the foundation had approved interventions at Family Support Primary and Nursery Schools in both Katsina and Daura. "We aim to offer public school children the same opportunities as those in private schools, regardless of their socio-economic status," she added.
The renovation projects are expected to be completed by December, bringing improved educational facilities to the children of Katsina and Daura.
