Kidnapped Kebbi Schoolgirls Regain Freedom Through Non-Kinetic Negotiations

The schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State have regained their freedom following a non-kinetic intervention by the Federal Government.

Their release was facilitated through coordinated efforts involving officials of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The non-kinetic method, which relies on dialogue, negotiation, and other peaceful confidence-building measures instead of military force, reflects the government’s increasing reliance on alternative strategies to tackle mass abduction incidents.

The abduction, which mirrored similar attacks in the North-West, triggered widespread national concern and led to a directive by the Chief of Army Staff ordering intensified search-and-rescue operations.

The students’ safe return has brought significant relief to their families and the wider community.
