KABUL – In a significant humanitarian effort, the Swiss Embassy in Pakistan has officially declared a generous donation of $4.25 million in aid to Afghanistan. This announcement, made on Friday, underscores Switzerland’s commitment to addressing the pressing needs of Afghan families affected by recent crises.

The aid package is strategically designed to provide crucial support to Afghan families who are returning from Pakistan, as well as those grappling with the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes in Herat province. The earthquakes, which struck on October 7 in western Afghanistan’s Herat province, resulted in a tragic toll with over 2,000 reported deaths and tens of thousands displaced. The affected regions are now grappling with the daunting task of rebuilding and recovering from the widespread destruction.

One particular focus of the aid initiative is on the more than 452,000 undocumented Afghans who have been deported from Pakistan since November, a number that continues to grow. As winter looms, concerns are escalating for the well-being of the returning refugees and the families displaced by the earthquakes in Herat.
