The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has conducted a free medical outreach for residents of Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State as part of activities marking its 7th Annual Medical Retreat.
The outreach programme took place on Thursday at Daura Comprehensive Hospital, Makara Huta Quarters, Daura, and was aimed at providing free healthcare services to members of host communities.
Speaking during an interview with Katsina Times, the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Human Resources and Development, Ahmed Tijjani Abe, said the annual medical retreat commenced on Monday in Katsina State, while the outreach segment was held in Daura on Thursday.
He explained that the outreach covered several medical services, including general consultations, dental care, eye treatment, and minor surgical procedures.
According to him, beneficiaries were examined by medical personnel, diagnosed, and provided with free medication as part of the Nigeria Customs Service’s efforts to support communities where the agency operates.
“The outreach will cover general consultation, dental, eye care, and even some surgeries. Patients will be examined, diagnosed, and given drugs free of charge,” he said.
Abe noted that the initiative formed part of the Service’s humanitarian intervention programmes aimed at strengthening its relationship with host communities and demonstrating its commitment to public welfare.
He also advised beneficiaries to strictly follow medical instructions and properly use prescribed medications for effective treatment.
“We advise that whoever is consulted and diagnosed should adhere to the prescriptions and instructions given by medical personnel,” he added.
Residents of the area were seen receiving various medical services from healthcare professionals deployed for the exercise.
