AIG Urges Professionalism During Visit to Katsina Police Command

KATSINA TIMES, Nigeria, May 12

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 14, Bello Shehu, on Tuesday visited the Katsina State Police Command and urged officers to uphold professionalism, discipline and operational efficiency in the discharge of their duties.

Zone 14 comprises Katsina and Kaduna state police commands.

Shehu was received at the Katsina State Police Command headquarters by the Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, alongside members of the command’s management team, according to a statement issued by the police.

During the visit, the AIG addressed officers at a special parade and lecture session, where he commended the command for its recent operations against banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.

He also delivered a lecture on operational effectiveness, intelligence-led policing and adherence to professional ethics.

Shehu stressed the importance of discipline, respect for human rights and improved police-community relations, saying they were essential to building public trust and ensuring lasting security.


He urged officers to remain vigilant and proactive while carrying out their responsibilities within the confines of the law.

The AIG also reiterated the police force’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, extortion and misconduct capable of tarnishing the image of the force.

In his remarks, the Katsina State Commissioner of Police pledged the command’s commitment to implementing the directives and maintaining professional policing standards.

The visit concluded with an interactive session between the AIG and officers of the command.
