The Katsina State Executive Council has approved a raft of initiatives, including direct grants for 62,000 nano, micro and small enterprises, major road construction, and reforms across agriculture, mining and education sectors.
The decisions were taken at the 7th Regular Council Meeting (2026) held on Wednesday at the Government House in Katsina and chaired by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
Briefing journalists, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Salisu Zango, said the approvals align with the administration’s “Building Your Future” agenda focused on grassroots economic growth and infrastructure expansion.
Director-General of the Katsina State Enterprises Development Agency (KASEDA), Babangida Ruma, said the direct grant programme would provide working capital support to small businesses across the state’s 34 local government areas.
He said the intervention is aimed at strengthening enterprises and improving livelihoods at the grassroots.
On infrastructure, the Ministry of Works said the council approved the construction and asphalting of the Rahamawa–Gidan Shehi Namadi–Inwala Jan Gefe–Ring Road in Katsina metropolis to ease movement and boost economic activities.
In the agricultural sector, the government approved the procurement of heavy-duty equipment for the rehabilitation and dredging of irrigation dams to support farming, livestock and fisheries development.
The council also sanctioned the acquisition of exploration and mining equipment for sites in Tama, Tandama and Kankara to enhance revenue generation and curb illegal mining.
Additionally, the government approved free transportation and distribution of fertiliser for the 2026 rainy season across 361 wards, aimed at ensuring direct access for farmers.
In education, the council endorsed reforms to integrate Almajiri, Tsangaya and Islamiyya systems into a model Khalwa Qur’anic education framework, including the establishment of four pilot schools across the state.
The government said the measures underscore its commitment to inclusive development, economic empowerment and human capital advancement.
