Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has called on Christians to use the Easter celebration to strengthen their faith and promote religious harmony in the interest of the state’s development.

The governor made the call in a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, to mark the Easter celebration.

He said Easter symbolises hope and renewal, urging residents to build on the values of unity and faith for collective progress.

“Easter reminds us that hope transcends all challenges. As a state, we must build on this hope and strengthen our foundation of unity and faith,” the governor said.

Radda stressed that religious harmony remained essential for sustainable development, noting that unity among people of different faiths would accelerate progress.

“When Christians and Muslims stand together, nothing can stop our development. When we are divided, even small tasks become difficult,” he said.

The governor noted that the state had recorded progress due to the peaceful coexistence among adherents of different religions, adding that both Christians and Muslims contribute to the development of critical sectors, including education and healthcare.

He called on religious leaders across faiths to continue to promote peace, tolerance and mutual understanding in their communities.

Radda also commended the Christian community for its contributions to the growth of the state and urged them to remain actively involved in development efforts.

He assured residents that his administration would continue to respect and protect the right of every individual to practise their religion freely, while emphasising the need for collective responsibility in sustaining peace.

The governor wished Christians a peaceful and fulfilling Easter celebration, urging them to extend the values of love and unity beyond the festive period.
