Lawmaker Donates Rice, N2m to CAN in Katsina

A member of the House of Representatives representing Kurfi/Dutsamma Federal Constituency, Aminu Balele Dan Arewa, has donated bags of rice and N2 million to the Christian Association of Nigeria in the area ahead of the Easter celebration.

The lawmaker made the donation during a meeting with CAN leaders from the two local government areas, saying the gesture was to enable Christians celebrate Easter in comfort.

He said, “As a representative of the people, I have a responsibility to support all segments of my constituency without discrimination.”

The lawmaker commended CAN for its role in promoting peace and security, stressing the importance of religious harmony to the development of the area.

He reiterated his commitment to delivering dividends of democracy and fulfilling his campaign promises, adding that more intervention programmes for residents would soon be unveiled.

The lawmaker also disclosed plans to host CAN leaders and members to an Easter gathering in the coming weeks.

He added that he would sustain support for Islamic education by paying school fees for Islamiyya students in Kurfi and Dutsamma, as well as providing scholarships to university students and assistance to youths and other residents.

Speaking, the CAN Chairman in Dutsamma Local Government Area, Pastor Emanuel Joseph, commended the lawmaker for the gesture.

He also praised the Katsina State Government under Governor Dikko Umar Radda for its support to the people.

Joseph expressed appreciation for the donation and assured the lawmaker of the association’s support and prayers during the Easter period.
