Governor Radda, Deputy, Emir of Katsina and Speaker Attend Funeral of Former Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, Sarkin Fulanin Hamcheta, Alhaji Lawal Bagiwa

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, alongside his Deputy, Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, and the Emir of Katsina, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, joined Muslim faithful and sympathisers at the funeral prayer of the late former Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs and Sarkin Fulanin Hamcheta, Alhaji Lawal Bagiwa.

The Janazah prayer was held today at the Palace of the Emir of Katsina in accordance with Islamic rites and was led by the Chief Imam of Katsina Central Mosque, Malam Gambo Mustapha. 

Special prayers were offered for the forgiveness of the deceased and for Almighty Allah to grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.

Members of the bereaved family, government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders and associates of the deceased from within and outside Katsina State were in attendance to pay their last respects.

The late Sarkin Fulanin Hamcheta was a retired senior officer of the Nigeria Customs Service who rose to the rank of Assistant Comptroller-General and was widely respected for his dedication, humility and selfless service to the nation and his community.

After the funeral prayer, Governor Radda and other mourners accompanied the remains of the deceased to Dan Takun Graveyard in Katsina metropolis, where he was laid to rest.

Describing his passing as a great loss, Governor Radda said the late customs chief lived a life of service, integrity and fear of Allah.

"The death of the Sarkin Fulanin Hamcheta is a painful loss to his family, the people of Mani Local Government Area and Katsina State as a whole. He served Nigeria with honour and commitment," the Governor said.

Governor Radda prayed that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, grants him mercy and admits him into Aljannatul Firdaus, and also asked Allah to grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss.

The funeral prayer was attended by members of the State Executive Council, heads of government agencies, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, top government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, as well as officers of the Nigeria Customs Service.
