The Executive Chairman of Mani Local Government, Dr. Yunusa Muhammad Sani Bagiwa, has reiterated his determination to continue improving the welfare and development of the people of Mani Local Government.
He explained that his administration has begun working to ensure a well-equipped healthcare centre, in line with the vision of Governor Dikko Umar Radda to strengthen the health sector across the state.
According to him, eight health facilities across the 11 wards in the Local Government have been renovated, and qualified medical doctors and other health personnel have been recruited to ensure effective healthcare delivery.
Dr. Yunusa added that modern hospital equipment—such as mattresses, beds, essential drugs, and other medical supplies—have been procured. He further disclosed plans to establish a pharmaceutical dispensing unit in Mani to enable residents to access medicines at affordable prices.
Similarly, a standard laboratory unit for the diagnosis of malaria, typhoid and other ailments has also been set up to support timely medical testing for patients.
The Chairman also revealed that a new hospital has been constructed near the Local Government Secretariat along with the recruitment of new health workers to operate the facility.
On education, Dr. Yunusa stated that his administration has renovated Durbi Primary School in Kusheyi and supplied necessary learning materials, fulfilling promises made during his campaign. He noted that the school, which previously operated under trees due to poor conditions, is now functioning without any challenges.
He further said that the construction of Gabi Primary School is ongoing and progressing well.
Speaking on agricultural development, Dr. Yunusa reported that the Local Government has distributed fertilizers, water-pump machines, quality pesticides, improved seeds, about ten tractors, and over 120 power tillers to farmers to boost food production and reduce hardship.
In his remarks regarding free medical outreach, Dr. Yunusa mentioned that the council sponsored 200 patients for eye surgeries and provided them free eyeglasses and medications, while arrangements have also been finalized for an additional 150 beneficiaries to receive similar treatment with the support of expert eye surgeons.
He added that about 20 patients every week are being treated for hernia surgery free of charge.
Furthermore, several mosques, boreholes, and hand-pump water systems have been rehabilitated across all 11 wards in the Local Government to improve water supply and worship facilities.
