A thousands crowd on Tuesday staged a protest in Katsina, calling on the Federal Government to secure the immediate release of students abducted in different parts of the country.
The demonstration, held along Kofar Kaura Road in Katsina metropolis, was organised by the Academic Forum of the Sheikh Zakzaky Movement in collaboration with other groups within the organisation.
With placards reading “Save Our Children” and “Bring Back Our Children Now”, the protesters criticised what they described as worsening insecurity and repeated cases of students being seized by armed groups across Nigeria.
Leaders of the forum said the march was part of their sustained campaign against abductions, noting that similar protests had been held in the past whenever kidnapping incidents increased.
The protesters accused government authorities of failing to protect citizens and urged them to take urgent steps to secure the release of all abducted students.
Thousands of residents participated in the rally, many of whom expressed frustration over the rising cases of insecurity nationwide.
