Major General Wase Hassan Assumes Command at Nigerian Army School of Artillery

— Adeyemo Moves to Head Corps of Artillery

The Nigerian Army School of Artillery (NASA), Kachia, witnessed a change of leadership on Saturday, November 8, 2025, as Major General Adam Adamu Wase Hassan officially assumed duty as the 38th Commandant of the institution. He takes over from Major General John Olusegun Adeyemo, who has been appointed Commander Corps of Artillery (CCA).

In his valedictory remarks, Major General Adeyemo commended the staff and students of NASA for their commitment and performance, which he said contributed immensely to the successes recorded during his tenure. He expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for the confidence reposed in him to lead the Corps of Artillery.

The new Commander Corps of Artillery pledged to remain dedicated to strengthening the Corps through transformational initiatives aimed at improving professionalism and operational capability in tackling emerging security challenges. He further assured the continued support of the Corps Headquarters to NASA, to sustain an enabling environment for effective and mission-oriented training.

In his inaugural address, Major General Adam A. Wase Hassan promised to build on the achievements of his predecessor, reaffirming his commitment to promoting realistic, mission-focused training that enhances the capacity and competence of personnel.

Highlights of the handing and taking-over ceremony included the decoration of the new Commandant with the NASA insignia, presentation of the school flag, commissioning of new projects, and the presentation of gifts and awards to deserving officers and soldiers.

Awards were given in various categories, including the Best Target Round during Exercise VULCAN GLOW XI, won by the 32 Artillery Brigade. The Commandant NASA Award for Outstanding Professional Performance and Best in Map Reading during the Captain-to-Major Practical Promotion Examination were also presented. Notably, Corporal Nancy Emmanuel received the Former Commandant’s Award for Selfless Service for voluntarily providing additional waste bins across the barracks to promote hygiene.

The event concluded with the regimental lowering and hoisting of the NASA flag, marking a seamless transition of leadership.
