The Katsina State Police Command has smashed an 11-member syndicate of suspected notorious armed robbers said to be behind several highway attacks along the Shaiskawa–Charanchi and Katsina–Kankia–Kano roads.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the breakthrough came on October 12, 2025, at about 10:00 a.m., when one of the suspects was intercepted while attempting to dispose of items believed to be proceeds of armed robbery.

Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the command swiftly arrested the suspect, which led to the eventual capture of ten other members of the gang.

Those arrested have been identified as Dikko Maaru, Dardau Kabir (24), Muntari Musa (22), Labaran Amadu (22), Usman Maaru (25), Lawal Zubairu (22), Nasiru Sanusi (25), Adamu Kabir (21), Abdullahi Zubairu (35), Muhammad Usman (25), and Sale Shehu (23).

During the operation, police recovered 80 wristwatches, nine mobile phones, and a knife, which are believed to have been stolen from their victims.

DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu said the arrests followed the command’s ongoing onslaught against all forms of crime and criminality across the state. He added that the suspects have been cooperating with investigators and will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and quick response, and appreciated the continued support of the public in providing useful intelligence that aids the police in crime-fighting efforts.

“We urge members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to share credible information with security agencies to ensure lasting peace and safety across Katsina State,” DSP Aliyu stated.
