Katsina Police Arrest 168 Suspects, Rescue 80 Kidnap Victims in One Month

The Katsina State Police Command has announced the arrest of 168 suspects in connection with 105 major criminal cases, including armed robbery, murder, rape, drug trafficking, and vandalism, during the month of September 2025.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, disclosed this during a press conference held at the Command Headquarters, Katsina, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu.

According to him, the achievements followed several coordinated security operations carried out across the state under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, aimed at curbing violent crimes and restoring peace.

“Within the period under review, the Command foiled several bandit attacks, neutralised five suspected armed bandits, and successfully rescued over 80 kidnapped victims,” DSP Aliyu said.

He further revealed that among those arrested were 12 suspected armed robbers, 5 murder or culpable homicide suspects, over 20 suspected rapists, 9 vandals, 2 gunrunners, 3 for unlawful possession of firearms, and 14 suspected drug peddlers, among others.


Recovered Exhibits

The police also recovered a large cache of arms and exhibits, including:

  • 1,298 rounds of live ammunition,

  • 4 cartridges,

  • 1 GPMG,

  • 2 AK-47 rifles,

  • 1 locally fabricated gun,

  • 1 dane gun,

  • 5 suspected stolen vehicles,

  • 5 stolen motorcycles,

  • 1,096 tramadol tablets, 42 exol tablets, and wraps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis,

  • A large quantity of vandalised electric cables.

DSP Aliyu commended the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his continued support and also appreciated the Katsina State Government and residents for their cooperation.

“These achievements would not have been possible without the support of the state government and the good people of Katsina. We appeal for sustained collaboration to strengthen security efforts,” he added.
