The Attorney General of Florida, James Uthmeier, has been petitioned to investigate and seize properties allegedly worth over $6 million linked to Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike.
The petition, dated 22nd September 2025, was filed by Nigerian lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju on behalf of human rights campaigner Omoyele Sowore.
According to Adeyanju, Wike and his wife, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike of Nigeria’s Court of Appeal, secretly acquired three multimillion-dollar lakeside properties in Winter Springs, Florida. The assets were later transferred to their children—Jordan, Joaquin, and Jazmyne—through cash transactions and quitclaim deeds between July 2021 and September 2023.
The petition flagged money laundering concerns, stressing that the deals were entirely cash-based, avoiding financial scrutiny. It also alleged Wike failed to declare the assets to Nigeria’s Code of Conduct Bureau.
The properties include:
113 Springcreek Lane: $535,000, transferred to Jordan Wike (25).
209 Hertherwood Court: $459,157, transferred to Joaquin Wike (23).
208 Hertherwood Court: $465,000, transferred to Jazmyne Wike (20).
Adeyanju urged Uthmeier to probe the source of funds, initiate forfeiture, and prosecute under U.S. anti-money laundering laws. He also called for a U.S. visa ban and sanctions against Wike, saying Florida must not be a safe haven for illicit wealth.
Copies of the petition were sent to the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria.
