Governor Radda Hails Maryamu Idris’ Appointment as Nigeria’s OPEC Representative

Katsina, Nigeria – September 19, 2025

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has commended the appointment of Maryamu Idris as Nigeria’s National Representative at the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

Idris, who hails from Katsina State, currently serves as the Managing Director of NNPC Trading Limited. Her appointment was recently announced by the federal government.

In a statement issued on Friday, Governor Radda described the appointment as a reflection of the calibre of professionals Katsina State continues to produce for both national and international service.

“We are proud that a daughter of Katsina State has been entrusted with representing Nigeria at such a prestigious international organization,” Radda said.

The governor expressed confidence that Idris would deploy her extensive experience in the oil and gas sector to promote Nigeria’s interests within OPEC. He further noted that the appointment underscores President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to positioning competent Nigerians in strategic roles, irrespective of their state of origin.

Governor Radda wished Idris success in her new assignment, urging her to remain a worthy ambassador of both Katsina State and Nigeria.
