The Katsina State Police Command has assured residents of adequate security during this year’s Eid-el-Maulud and Sallar Gani celebrations across the state.
Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, in a statement on Friday, congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the occasion and called for peaceful conduct throughout the festivities. He cautioned residents to avoid actions that could threaten public peace, law, and order.
According to him, the police have put in place robust security arrangements, including intensified patrols and surveillance, to guarantee a hitch-free celebration. Shehu also warned criminal elements against exploiting the festive atmosphere to commit crimes, stressing that the command is prepared to deal decisively with offenders.
The CP appealed for cooperation from members of the public by sharing timely and credible information with the police and other security agencies to help prevent and tackle crime.
The Eid-el-Maulud celebrations will span the month, climaxing with the traditional “Zagayen Gari” procession and the annual Sallar Gani, a major cultural event in Katsina.
While extending his goodwill to Muslims, Shehu urged residents to remain law-abiding and celebrate peacefully.
