The Katsina State Hisbah Board has reiterated its determination to ensure moral and legal compliance in hotel operations across the state.

This was made known during a monitoring visit led by the Director General of the Board, Dr Aminu Usman Abu Ammar, to various hotels in Katsina metropolis on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

Dr Abu Ammar urged hotel owners to maintain clean and lawful operations, stressing that while they profit from the hospitality business, they also bear the responsibility of ensuring their establishments are not used for immoral or criminal activities.

“We’ve observed some disturbing practices in certain hotels, particularly the unchecked allocation of rooms to guests without proper identification or adherence to guidelines,” he said.

He warned that failing to document guest identities poses a major security threat. “If anything goes wrong, it becomes difficult to trace those involved due to the absence of proper records. Going forward, every guest must present valid identification before being allocated a room,” Dr Abu Ammar insisted.

He further cautioned hotel managers against accommodating unaccompanied women suspected of engaging in immoral acts or minors. He instructed them to remain vigilant and ensure such behaviour is not tolerated within their premises.

Additionally, he urged hotel operators not to rent rooms to Katsina residents without clear, verifiable reasons.

The hotels visited during the operation include Alhayat, Faeez, Kaita Guest Inn, Murjani, Jamvalley, Green View, Katsina Tourist Lodge, Hill Side, King Paradise, Samari African Hotel, Hayatt, Zumunta, Gomad, and Jakada Holiday.

The Hisbah Board noted that such visits will continue regularly to promote discipline and ensure compliance with state laws and moral standards across all hospitality establishments in Katsina.
