Scores of Bandits Neutralised as Troops Repel Coordinated Attacks in Niger, Kaduna

Troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces have successfully repelled coordinated attacks by bandits on forward operating bases in Niger and Kaduna states, neutralising scores of the assailants during fierce engagements.

The attacks, which occurred on 24 June 2025, targeted military positions in Kwanar Dutse Mairiga and Boka in Niger State, as well as Aungwan Turai in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. According to military sources, the assaults were launched simultaneously in a three-pronged operation by the armed bandits.

In swift response, combined land and air component forces conducted several counter-offensives, inflicting heavy casualties on the attackers. Dozens of bandits were confirmed neutralised in the battles that lasted throughout the day.

However, the military also suffered losses, with a number of gallant troops paying the supreme price in the line of duty. Four others sustained gunshot injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.

The Defence Headquarters has assured that further updates will be provided as operations continue in the affected areas.
