Radda Finalises Major Healthcare Equipment Deal with Siemens in Germany
Katsina Residents to Benefit from World-Class Diagnostic Services Locally
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has sealed a landmark agreement with Siemens Healthineers in Germany to procure state-of-the-art medical equipment for the state’s Ultra-Modern Radiology Centre and Central Reference Laboratory.
The deal, finalised during a technical visit to Siemens Healthineers’ global headquarters in Forchheim, Bavaria, marks a significant milestone in the Radda administration’s efforts to transform healthcare under its “Building Your Future” agenda.
During his visit earlier this month, Governor Radda toured Siemens’ research and manufacturing facilities, where he inspected advanced diagnostic systems including high-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines, low-dose 128-slice CT scanners, digital radiography suites, and fully automated laboratory analyzers. The Governor also assessed equipment undergoing final quality checks ahead of shipment to Katsina.
Speaking after the tour, Governor Radda emphasized his administration's resolve to end the hardship of long-distance travel and high costs that residents currently face in accessing modern diagnostic services.
“Our administration is determined to give every Katsina resident access to cutting-edge diagnostic services without the burden of traveling hundreds of kilometres or bearing prohibitive costs,” the Governor said.
He described Siemens Healthineers as a trusted global leader and affirmed that the procured MRI, CT, X-ray, and automated lab systems would significantly enhance early disease detection and strengthen clinical decision-making across hospitals in the state.
A key feature of the agreement includes a robust technology transfer initiative. Siemens engineers will train Katsina-based biomedical technicians and radiographers, while clinical experts will offer remote support via digital platforms to ensure sustainable operations, minimal downtime, and affordable service delivery.
In response, Siemens Healthineers’ senior executives praised Governor Radda’s visionary investment in healthcare and pledged timely delivery of the equipment, continuous capacity building, and strong collaboration with local health stakeholders.
The installation and commissioning of the diagnostic systems are scheduled to begin in July 2025, with pilot clinical services expected to commence by October 2025.
