Daura General Hospital Becomes FMC

General Hospital Daura in Katsina State has became a full-fledged Federal Medical Centre (FMC) as Governor Dikko Umaru Radda handed over the State Government-owned health facility to Federal Government.

 The governor while in Daura, also performed groundbreaking foundation laying ceremony for the construction of one of the three Special Model Schools earmarked by his administration for gifted Katsina children at Dumurkol District in Mai’adua Local Government Area.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has promised when resumed office to construct three special model schools for gifted children in the three senatorial Zones of the state namely:- Katsina, Daura and Funtua respectively.

Similarly, while there in Daura, the Governor led a tree planting exercise at Dr Yusuf Bala Usman College for Legal and General Studies.

 It would be recalled that, during President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime, General Hospital Daura was taken over by Federal Government and converted to a Federal Medical Center (FMC).

A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed said Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruq Umar and the State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa, led Governor Dikko Radda, in company of some members of the State Executive Council, to the Hospital for the official handing over event.

In Maiadua local government Governor Dikko Radda unveiled an ambulance, commissioned a Primary Healthcare Centre and inspected a Skills Acquisition Centre, sponsored by a Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) programme in the State.

The tree-planting exercise was organized by the State’s Agro-climatic Resilience in Semi-arid landscapes, ACReSAL, program.

 Governor Dikko Radda urged residents of the State to plant trees and also nurture them till maturity, with a view to boosting the global war against climate.

Speaking, Provost of Dr. Yusuf Bala Usman College for Legal and General Studies, Daura, Professor Sa’adiyya Sani Daura promised to nurture the planted trees to maturity, while also appreciating Governor Radda’s support to their institution.
