The Honorable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, fnipr, has called for the promotion of Media and Information Literacy (MIL) across all age groups in Nigeria. He made this known while speaking at the TEDxNTICAbujaYouth event held at the Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC) in Abuja.

Delivering a speech on the theme "Media and Information Literacy for All Ages," the Minister emphasized the importance of equipping Nigerians—both young and old—with the skills to critically consume and produce information in the digital age. He stated that in a world filled with misinformation, fake news, and deepening social divisions, media literacy has become a vital life skill.

"Everyone, regardless of age, needs the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and create media in a variety of forms," the Minister said. He noted that strengthening media literacy would help foster a more informed, responsible, and engaged citizenry.

The TEDxNTICAbujaYouth event, part of the globally renowned TEDxTalks series, brought together students, educators, and innovators to explore ideas that can inspire social change. The Minister commended the organisers for giving youth a platform to engage on critical national and global issues.

He concluded his remarks by reaffirming the government's commitment to promoting inclusive and responsible communication in line with national reorientation goals.
