The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education today flagged off the Annual School Census for 2025 and launched a technical training for Education Management Information System (EMIS) officers at Katsina College Katsina. Honourable Commissioner Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa emphasized that the census aims to revalidate accurate data on primary and secondary school students across the state, which will inform policy implementation, provision of infrastructure, and learning materials.
She noted that this year's census will differ from previous ones, as it will collect detailed student information, including contact details, addresses, phone numbers, and NIN numbers, to facilitate registration for WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB exams. The Commissioner urged enumeration officers to ensure data accuracy and honesty. After the exercise the data will transfer to the ministry's database.
Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa expressed gratitude to Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, for his support, as well as partners, agency heads, directors, and education stakeholders for their contributions to transforming the education sector.
The event drew distinguished guests, including Special Adviser on Banking and Finance Hajiya Bilkisu Sulaiman Ibrahim, SUBEB Chairman Alhaji Kabir Magaji Gafia, Hajiya Bilkisu Muhammad Kaikai the Executive Secretary Mass Education, Hajiya Binta Abdulmumini State Project Coordinator, TESS project, State Project Coordinator AGIlE project represented by Abubakar Abdulhamid, Professor Saifillahi Sani Ibrahim Statistician General, Katsina State Bureau of Statistics, and other notable figures from the education sector.
