The Aliko Dangote Foundation has distributed 35,000 bags of rice to vulnerable people in Katsina State as part of its Ramadan relief effort.
Speaking at the distribution event on Tuesday at Muhammad Dikko Stadium, a foundation representative, Mustapha Umar, said beneficiaries were selected from all 361 wards across the state’s 34 local government areas.
He explained that the initiative aims to ease economic hardship and support the government’s efforts to improve citizens' well-being.
“This year’s gesture targets over one million vulnerable Nigerians to help them observe Ramadan with ease,” Umar said, adding that similar distributions are ongoing nationwide.
Each political ward in Katsina received 94 beneficiaries, including physically challenged individuals.
Hisbah Commander Dr. Aminu Usman, representing the state government, commended the foundation for its support and urged wealthy individuals to assist the less privileged, especially during Ramadan.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, while government officials and stakeholders, including Hisbah and the State Community Development Programme, supervised the distribution.
