In a bid to support religious leaders in his constituency, the Member of the House of Representatives for Dutsinma/Kurfi Federal Constituency, Hon. Aminu Balele Dan’arewa, has announced an increase in the monthly allowances for Imams, their deputies, and Muezzins across the two local government areas.
The lawmaker, who had previously allocated ₦10,000 to each Imam, ₦8,000 to their deputies, and ₦5,000 to Muezzins, has now raised the allowances to ₦15,000, ₦12,000, and ₦10,000, respectively. The increment, he noted, is aimed at alleviating the financial burden on these religious leaders, especially given the rising cost of living.
Speaking on behalf of Hon. Dan’arewa, the Chairman of Kurfi Local Government, Dr. Mannir Shehu Wurma, stated that the decision was driven by the lawmaker’s commitment to improving the welfare of religious leaders in his constituency.
“This initiative is part of his broader effort to support Imams, their deputies, and Muezzins, ensuring they are financially stable to continue their duties effectively. He made a promise when he assumed office, and this is a fulfillment of that commitment,” Dr. Wurma said.
The official launch of the enhanced allowances took place in Dutsinma on the morning of Saturday, March 22, 2025, where over 200 religious leaders benefited. The event concluded in Kurfi, at the residence of the lawmaker, where he urged the beneficiaries to continue praying for lasting peace and stability in Katsina State and for the success of the administration of Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda.
