Katsina Government Sets Up White Paper Committee on Health Institutions

Katsina, Nigeria – March 18, 2025

The Katsina State Government has established a White Paper Committee to review the findings of the Health Institutions Inspection Committee. The report focuses on the Katsina State College of Health Sciences and Technology and other private health training institutions in the state.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Garba Faskari, inaugurated the committee on behalf of Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. The decision was made during the 5th Regular Executive Council Meeting held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

Committee’s Mandate

The White Paper Committee is tasked with:

  • Drafting a White Paper based on recommendations in the inspection report.
  • Engaging experts for further assessments where necessary.
  • Submitting the final report to the government within three weeks.

The committee comprises:

  1. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Katsina State – Chairman
  2. Dr. Bashir Usman Ruwan Godiya – Member
  3. Permanent Secretary, Katsina State Health Institutions – Member
  4. Former Permanent Secretary, Security and Executive Council Affairs, Governor’s Office – Member
  5. Safiyanu Maikano, Pioneer Provost, Katsina State College of Health Sciences – Member
  6. Aminu Bello, Governor’s Office, Katsina State – Secretary

Government’s Commitment to Health Education

The initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to enhance health education standards and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines. The committee’s findings are expected to strengthen the quality of training in health institutions and improve the state’s healthcare workforce.
