The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Katsina State chapter, has vowed to foster unity and bring positive change within the community. Following the recent election and swearing-in of new executives, the council’s Deputy Chairperson, Amb. Khadija Suleman Saulawa, has embarked on a series of visits to religious and community leaders to promote social harmony.
On Sunday, March 16, 2025, Saulawa visited Angelican Church, where she engaged with Christian youth organizations under the church’s umbrella. She outlined her vision for fostering unity between Muslims and Christians in Katsina, emphasizing the importance of youth empowerment, crime prevention, and tackling issues such as drug abuse.
As part of her outreach, Saulawa also visited Sheikh Yakub Yahya, the representative of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky in Katsina, seeking guidance and reaffirming the council’s commitment to social progress. Sheikh Yahya welcomed the initiative and reminded the youth of their responsibility to drive positive change and unity, stressing that no society can thrive without mutual cooperation.
Christian youth leaders who attended the engagement expressed their appreciation for the visit, noting that it was the first time a Muslim-led organization had reached out to strengthen interfaith relations. They described the effort as a major step toward lasting peace and understanding in Katsina.
The NYCN Katsina chapter remains committed to implementing programs that promote unity, peace, and youth development, aiming to steer young people away from harmful activities and towards a future of collective progress.
