Katsina, Nigeria – Troops of Operation FANSARAN YANMA have successfully neutralized 12 terrorists, including a notorious bandit kingpin, Kachallah Dogo, during a combat patrol in Maigora village, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State. The operation also led to the capture of seven motorcycles used by the assailants.
According to intelligence sources, the terrorists were neutralized on Friday after they stormed the village around 12:30 p.m. Armed troops swiftly responded, engaging the attackers in a fierce gun battle that forced them to retreat into nearby bushes.
During the initial encounter, security forces eliminated five bandits and seized two motorcycles. In a follow-up operation, the fleeing terrorists regrouped and launched a counterattack, but the troops repelled them, pursued them into the hills, and engaged them with mortar fire. This resulted in the killing of seven more terrorists and the dispersal of the remaining fighters.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of seven additional motorcycles belonging to the terrorists. Battle damage assessments revealed that a key bandit leader, identified as Malum, sustained gunshot wounds during the engagement.
Meanwhile, sources confirmed that at least 12 terrorists were buried on Friday evening, including senior commander Dogo, who was neutralized in the operation.
As of Friday morning, security operatives have maintained dominance in the area to prevent further incursions by the bandits.
