Katsina, February 6, 2025 – The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt in Maibakko village, Sabuwa Local Government Area, rescuing 13 victims.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, anipr, the incident occurred at approximately 1:43 a.m. when suspected bandits, armed with AK-47 rifles, attacked the village, firing sporadically and abducting residents.
Upon receiving a distress call, operatives from the Sabuwa Divisional Police Headquarters swiftly mobilized to the scene. A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, compelling the attackers to retreat and enabling the successful rescue of 13 victims. However, two individuals lost their lives in the attack, while one person sustained injuries.
The rescued victims have been reunited with their families, while security operatives continue efforts to track down the perpetrators and secure the release of any remaining captives.
The Katsina State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in the fight against crime.
