NYCN Katsina Holds Strategic Leadership Meeting to Empower Youth

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Katsina State Chapter, has convened a high-level Executive Committee meeting aimed at strengthening leadership and improving administrative efficiency among youth groups across the state. The meeting, held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the General Shehu Musa Yar’adua House, brought together key stakeholders from various youth organizations and council affiliates.

Presided over by the Chairman of NYCN Katsina State, Comrade Shamsudden Ibrahim Shamo, the gathering included state executive members, advisory board members, supervisory committee members, leaders of voluntary youth organizations (VYOs), and chairpersons of NYCN local government chapters.

In his address, Comrade Shamo expressed appreciation to all attendees and reiterated the need for unity among youth leaders to tackle the pressing challenges facing young people in Katsina State. He reaffirmed NYCN’s commitment to introducing policies and initiatives aimed at youth development and capacity building.

"This meeting is of great significance as it reinforces our leadership structure and ensures that we remain on the right path toward uplifting the lives of young people in Katsina State," he stated.

Comrade Shamo highlighted the progress achieved under NYCN’s leadership despite several challenges. He emphasized that through collaboration, the council successfully conducted its internal elections in record time, reflecting the commitment to good governance and transparency.

Challenges and the Role of Unity in Overcoming Them

The NYCN chairman also shed light on some of the obstacles faced by the council, acknowledging that certain individuals had attempted to disrupt its operations. However, he stressed that collective efforts and unity among youth groups are key to sustainable progress, ensuring that young people have a strong voice in democratic governance and national development.

Acknowledgment of Governor Dikko Radda’s Support

During the meeting, Comrade Shamo commended Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda, recalling the council’s early involvement in his political journey before he assumed office.

"We actively supported Governor Radda’s journey long before he became governor, making significant contributions along the way. He, in turn, has recognized and appreciated our efforts, providing support to further youth development initiatives in the state," he noted.

As the meeting concluded, several key resolutions were adopted, with a strong commitment from NYCN to implement them effectively. Comrade Shamo urged youth leaders and organizations to continue working together in fostering development, improving youth engagement, and advancing educational and entrepreneurial opportunities for Katsina’s young population.
