On Saturday, January 18, operatives of the Katsina Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) in Safana Local Government Area successfully dismantled a gang of kidnappers operating in the Safana-Batsari border region of Katsina State. According to Katsina Times sources, the team neutralized several of the criminals and recovered stolen motorcycles and cattle.
Eyewitnesses reported that during the celebration of the victory, tragedy struck when an officer of the KSCWC, Abdullahi Yahaya, was accidentally shot and killed by a stray bullet. The incident cast a shadow over the success of the operation.
The Katsina Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) was established by the Katsina State Government under the leadership of Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda. The initiative aims to enhance security across communities by complementing the efforts of national security agencies in combating kidnappings and other crimes.
This latest operation highlights the dedication and sacrifices of the KSCWC operatives, who remain at the forefront of the fight against insecurity in Katsina State.
