Katsina Police Command Cracks Down on Criminal Syndicates

The Katsina State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Aliyu Abubakar Musa, has recorded notable successes in its efforts to combat criminal activities across the state.  

On January 13, 2025, police apprehended two suspects, Mutaka Garba (24) and Yusuf Usman (20), for the kidnapping and murder of 12-year-old in Dankama, Kaita LGA. The victim was abducted on January 11 while on an errand, and despite a ₦25 million ransom demand, he was killed, and his body abandoned. Both suspects confessed and are awaiting trial.  

A syndicate specializing in counterfeit currency distribution was busted following the arrest of Aliyu Isa (24) on December 31, 2024. Further investigations led to the recovery of 1,018 fake $100 bills and the arrest of three others. The suspects remain in custody.  

On January 11, 2025, Abdullahi Ali (51) was arrested attempting to steal ₦650,000 and other valuables from vehicles at Katsina Teaching Hospital during Governor Radda's visit. The suspect is set to face prosecution.  

A vigilante member, Ismail Isa (23), was intercepted on December 30, 2024, carrying 15 AK-47 rifle magazines intended for sale at ₦900,000. Investigations are ongoing to trace the source.  
 
Police raids in Katsina and Funtua black spots yielded 15 arrests for robbery, theft, and gang activities. Weapons, drugs, and stolen solar panel parts were recovered during the operations.  

A four-member gang involved in SIM swap fraud was arrested, with suspects including Mohammed Murtala (20) and Mohammed Umar (33). Thirty-two SIM cards used for bank fraud were recovered.  

DSP Sadiq Abubakar reaffirmed the Command's dedication to ensuring the safety and security of residents while promising swift prosecution of the suspects.
