Gov Radda Honoured at WIFCOH 2024 Farmers Conference in Kano

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON has been recognized at the World Initiative for Community Development and Global Healthcare (WIFCOH) 2024 Farmers Conference and Value Chains Exhibition, for his contributions to agricultural development in Katsina State.
The 2-day conference, held in Kano which concluded today, focused on "Enhancing Agricultural Productivity and Food Security in Northwest Nigeria: Addressing Challenges and Exploring Innovative Solutions."
As the Special Guest of Honour, Governor Radda was ably represented by Katsina State Commissioner for Agriculture and Livestock, Professor Ahmed Mohammad Bakori, who presented various giant strides implemented by the Governor to increase productivity and food security.
According to Prof. Bakori, Governor Radda resuscitated extension services in the State by co-opting 722 local government areas agriculture department staff as extension workers and 68 supervisors of field extension workers. The Governor also directed for their continuous training, bought motorcycles, knapsacks, rainy and cold seasons clothing.
He continued that the Governor also procured inputs for 2024 rainy seasons such as fertilizers, improved seed, herbicide and insecticide. He gave a 50% discount to all agriculture inputs.
"Other notable contributions are procurement of 4,000 solar water pumps, 4,000 power tillers 13hp and ordered supply of 400 tractors with all implements. 10 combined harvesters and 2,000 planters," Prof. Bakori concluded.
In recognition of his outstanding support for agricultural partnership and collaboration, the Worldwide Initiative for Community Development and Global Healthcare (WIFCOH) presented Governor Radda with a special award, acknowledging Katsina State's innovative approach to enhancing food security and agricultural productivity.
Prof. Bakori, on behalf of Governor Radda expressed appreciation for the recognition, noting that the award is a challenge to do more for the people of Katsina State.
