Barama Energy, a top-tier Oil & Gas servicing firm specializing in upstream and downstream operations, is seeking an experienced and innovative Human Resources Manager to join its team in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Position Overview
As the HR Manager, you will play a critical role in driving HR strategies that align with the company’s business goals. This role requires extensive expertise in HR management within the oil and gas sector and a proven track record of fostering organizational excellence. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee talent acquisition, employee engagement, compliance, and organizational development.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Partner with executive leadership to develop HR strategies that support business objectives.
- Provide expert advice on staffing, compensation, performance management, and organizational development.
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Lead recruitment processes for all levels, ensuring accurate role descriptions and top-talent acquisition.
- Implement sourcing strategies tailored to upstream and downstream operations.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Foster a positive work environment with open-door policies and conflict resolution.
- Enhance employee engagement and promote inclusivity and collaboration.
Performance Management & Development
- Oversee performance evaluations and create development plans for high-potential employees.
- Drive training initiatives to build skills and advance careers.
Compensation & Benefits Administration
- Conduct market benchmarking for competitive compensation.
- Oversee benefits programs and advise leadership on compensation-related decisions.
Compliance & Legal Oversight
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct audits to mitigate risks and uphold industry standards.
Health, Safety, and Welfare
- Collaborate with safety teams to ensure HR policies align with workplace regulations.
- Champion employee wellbeing initiatives, including mental health programs.
Reporting & Analytics
- Provide insights through HR metrics and KPIs, such as employee turnover and diversity rates.
Organizational Development
- Lead change management initiatives to support business growth.
Candidate Profile
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or Business Administration; a master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum second-class upper division graduate.
- Professional certifications (SPHRi, SHRM) are mandatory.
Experience
- 7-10 years in HR roles within the oil and gas industry, focusing on upstream and/or downstream operations.
Skills & Competencies
- Proven expertise in talent acquisition and performance management.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices in the oil and gas sector.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
