Katsina State Police Commissioner, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, held an emergency meeting with senior police officers from the state headquarters and local government divisions to address pressing security concerns and strategize new measures to protect critical infrastructure. The focus of the meeting was on the increasing cases of theft and vandalism of electrical transformers and cables, particularly due to issues with the national power grid that have left these assets vulnerable.

CP Aliyu emphasized that this meeting was essential to reassess the police force’s current security operations and to introduce new policies aimed at strengthening safety measures across the state. He announced plans to heighten surveillance and security around key infrastructure, specifically targeting locations at high risk for electrical equipment theft. These efforts also extend to securing street lights along major highways as the state heads into the holiday and year-end season, when security demands are typically heightened.

In addition, the Commissioner directed his officers to work closely with the state’s electricity supply agency to provide enhanced security for their facilities. With the upcoming festive season, he highlighted the importance of vigilance in safeguarding public infrastructure and maintaining peace.

CP Aliyu also urged security heads in each local government to collaborate with traditional rulers, community leaders, and local vigilante groups to reinforce security in rural and urban areas alike. Such partnerships, he noted, are crucial in tackling security challenges in remote areas that require special attention.

In closing, CP Aliyu underscored that only through coordinated efforts and modern security strategies could the state ensure lasting peace and protection for its citizens and infrastructure.
