KTSG Inaugurate committee to Recommend Modalities to Implement New Minimum Wage

Katsina State Government has taken a significant step towards implementing the N70,0000:00k national minimum wage.This move is a step towards improving the standard of living for workers and ensuring that they are fairly compensated for their work.
Deputy Governor of the state Malam Farouk Lawal (Sarkin Fulanin Jobe) today inaugurated the 15-member committee to advise government on important strategies and modalities to implement the new minimum wage with consequential adjustments applied to workers in both the State and Local Governments.
According to the Deputy Governor, government is aware of hardships faced by workers in the state resulting from oil subsidy withdrawals and other policies.
He then reaffirmed the commitments of Katsina state Government to ensuring workers' welfare by implementing the new minimum wage.
The committee is to be headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari. While Members of the committee include; Head of civil service of the state, Alhaji Falalu Bawale, Hon Commissioner of Finance, Hon Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftency Affairs, Hon S.A.to His Excellency the state Governor on Labour Matters, Accountant General of the State, Auditor General for the state, Auditor General for Local Governments, ALGON Chairman.
Other members of the committee include: Chairman Board of Internal Revenue, State Chairman Nigerian Labour Congres, NLC, State Chairman TUC, State President Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, and Permanent Secretary Department of Establishment, Pension and Training to serve as Secretary of the committee.
The committee was tasked with completing the assignment and submitting its report within 21 days.
It should be recalled that Governor Radda in one of his press conferences reaffirmed his administration's commitment to implementing the new national minimum wage.
Governor Radda said " Katsina state will not be left behind in implementing a sustainable minimum wage".
While responding on behalf of other members, chairman of the committee, Secretary for Government of the state, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari assured the state government, that the committee will come up with a workable modality which is sustainable to both the state and workers. He then expressed their appreciation to the state Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda for the confidence bestowed on them.
