The Katsina State Government has ordered the immediate closure and revocation of licenses of all private health training institutions operating in the state. This directive, issued by Umar Mammada Adamu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Health Institutions, follows the discovery of unregistered and substandard institutions compromising healthcare standards in the state.

Addressing the press, Umar emphasized the proliferation of such institutions and the risks they pose to public health. "Many of these institutions do not meet the required legal standards, and this jeopardizes the quality of healthcare training in the state," he said.

The decision comes after findings from the Ministry of Health revealed that several private health training schools were operating without proper accreditation, raising alarm about their safety and compliance.

The closure will remain in effect until a thorough re-evaluation is conducted, with a fresh registration process scheduled from February 24-25, 2024. Proprietors of affected institutions have been urged to present all necessary documentation to a special committee for verification.

“This is a necessary step to sanitize the system and ensure that all health institutions adhere to the state’s laws and regulations,” Adamu stated, assuring the public that the government is committed to improving healthcare standards.
