The Katsina State Government, under the leadership of Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has awarded vehicles and cash prizes of two million naira each to select state employees in recognition of their dedication and hard work.
It will be recalled that on the 23rd of last month, during the celebration of Katsina State’s 37th anniversary, Governor Radda announced the names of 14 outstanding civil servants who would receive these rewards—some receiving cars while others were awarded two million naira each for their diligence and commitment to their duties.
Among the beneficiaries were staff from various departments, including messengers and office workers. Fatima Abubakar from Kafur Local Government, working in the Ministry of Agriculture, expressed her joy, saying: "We were chosen by God. We never expected this reward. We only focused on being truthful, punctual, and committed to our work."
Malam Bishir Aliyu, an employee in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, also expressed his deep gratitude to God and the Katsina State Government. He said: "I never imagined receiving such a huge reward, especially a car, after over 30 years of service. No previous administration has given us this level of encouragement. I urge my fellow workers to stay committed to their duties because every effort is recognized, and even if one doesn't receive rewards in this world, they have fulfilled their responsibility."
Mansur Suleman, Director of the Katsina State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KTARDA), remarked that since the governor's announcement of the rewards, he had noticed a positive shift in the work ethic of staff. "When you visit offices now, you find that even those who used to come late are now arriving on time, and they are going above and beyond their duties. This motivation has made a significant impact. We pray for continued success for Governor Dikko Umar Radda and ask that God strengthens him as he continues to care for his workforce," he said.
Some workers received cars, while others were awarded two million naira to boost their morale. The funds were transferred directly into the beneficiaries' bank accounts, as confirmed by several of the workers who spoke to Katsina Times.
The presentation of the rewards was overseen by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abdullahi Garba Faskari, who chaired the committee responsible for ensuring that all recipients received their alerts. The event took place on Monday, September 30, 2024.
