Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management Set to Become a Hub of Innovation and Excellence — Engr. Muttaqa Rabe Darma

The Chairman of the Governing Council, Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management, Engr. Muttaqa Rabe Darma, Ph.D., has assured stakeholders that the institute will soon rise as one of the most prominent centers of learning in Northern Nigeria. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the council by the Honorable Commissioner of Higher, Technical and Vocational Education Isah Muhammad Musa, Engr. Darma expressed deep gratitude for the confidence reposed in the council by Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda, pledging to ensure that the objectives of the institution are realized within the shortest possible time.

In his opening remarks, Engr. Darma extended appreciation to the Honorable Commissioner Muhammad Musa, for his leadership and for entrusting the council with the responsibility of overseeing the institute's development. He emphasized the council's commitment to steering the institute towards excellence with a focus on accountability, transparency, and a steadfast commitment to its foundational objectives.

“We are fully aware of the trust bestowed upon us to oversee the activities of this institute during the tenure of this council,” he remarked. “I want to assure you that we will approach this responsibility with the utmost commitment and professionalism.”

He reaffirmed that the council's mandate is clearly outlined in the law establishing the institution, with the objectives specified in Section 4 of the Enabling Act. Engr. Darma pledged that the council will strictly adhere to these legal provisions, ensuring that its work remains within the bounds of the law.

Commitment to Integrity, Transparency, and Accountability

A key theme of the chairman’s address was the council's commitment to transparency and accountability. Engr. Darma assured the Honorable Commissioner and the wider public that the council comprises individuals of integrity who will safeguard these values throughout their tenure.

“Our integrity is our most valuable asset, and we will protect it diligently,” he stressed. “Rest assured that all financial and administrative regulations will be followed to the letter, both within the institute and in alignment with state policies.”

He reiterated that transparency in the management of resources and adherence to state and institutional regulations would be prioritized, ensuring that the institute's operations are above board at all times.

Advancing Teaching, Research, and Learning

Addressing the importance of education, research, and public engagement, Engr. Darma stated that the council would play an instrumental role in guiding the management of the institute towards expanding its teaching and research activities. He expressed optimism that within the next 18 months to two years, the institute will emerge as a leading educational hub, making significant contributions to society through innovative research and public knowledge dissemination.

“Our council will not only work to guide the management in expanding teaching and research but will also ensure that the knowledge generated is effectively disseminated to the public,” he stated confidently. “Within the next 18 months to two years, this institution will become one of the most prominent centers of higher learning in the region.”

Engr. Darma highlighted the council's dedication to ensuring that the institute's progress is in line with the vision of Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda and the provisions of the Enabling Act. He stressed the importance of diligence and commitment, which would serve as guiding principles for the council's work going forward.

Council’s First Meeting and Immediate Plans

The newly inaugurated council wasted no time in getting to work. Engr. Darma revealed that the council would hold its first meeting immediately after the ceremony, during which members would familiarize themselves with one another, establish guiding policies, and form committees to spearhead the institute’s growth.

“Our work begins immediately,” Engr. Darma declared. “We will set up guiding principles, policies, and committees to ensure that this institution reaches its full potential in developing the youth of Katsina State and the professionals of Northern Nigeria.”

A Bright Future for the Institution

Engr. Darma concluded his speech with a resounding pledge: that in the coming year and a half, the institute will undergo a transformation into a hub of innovation, creativity, and knowledge, serving as a model for educational institutions across the region.

“In the next one and a half years, you will witness the transformation of this institution into a hub of innovation, knowledge, and creativity right here in Katsina State,” he promised.

As the council embarks on its journey to elevate the institution to new heights, there is a palpable sense of optimism and anticipation for the future of the Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management.
