Katsina State Implements Fuel Purchase Limits at NNPC Mega Stations to Address Distribution Challenge
In response to rising public complaints about fuel distribution inefficiencies, Katsina State has introduced new measures to improve fuel accessibility at NNPC Mega Stations. The announcement was made following a crucial meeting between the Chairman of the Committee on Resource Petroleum Procurement and Distribution, Muhammad Lawal Aliyu Daura, and NNPC station managers on Monday at the State Secretariat.
The meeting, triggered by long queues and irregular fuel supplies, particularly after recent price hikes, sought to address the growing concerns of the public. The primary resolution involved limiting fuel purchases at NNPC Mega Stations to a maximum of 50 liters per vehicle. This decision aims to ease traffic at the stations and ensure more residents can access fuel without facing prolonged delays.
“Our committee has resolved that no private or commercial vehicle will be allowed to purchase more than 50 liters of fuel per visit to ensure quicker service and reduce congestion,” said Daura. This policy is expected to alleviate the issue of vehicles with excessively large fuel tanks, which have caused significant delays for other customers.
The committee, which includes representatives from security agencies, emphasized that security personnel would be deployed to monitor the unloading and distribution of fuel to ensure transparency and fairness across the state. These efforts are designed to restore order at NNPC stations and enhance fuel distribution efficiency in Katsina State.
