The Senate of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU) has extended the mid-semester break for students following delays in the restoration of electricity on campus. The decision was made during a special meeting held on Friday, September 13, 2024, after reviewing the ongoing repairs to the University’s power supply.
Initially scheduled to resume on Monday, September 16, 2024, the Senate deemed the date unfeasible given the current status of the repairs. The delay has prompted the University to postpone resumption indefinitely until the electricity supply is fully restored.
The University Senate expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by this decision and assured students and stakeholders that they will be promptly informed once a new resumption date is set.
Registrar Muhammad Yusufu Abubakar, who also serves as the Secretary to the University Senate, signed the statement, acknowledging the challenges faced by the institution and reaffirming their commitment to addressing the issue in collaboration with the State Government.
