The Katsina House of Assembly says it is committed to improving the state’s budget related to social protection programmes to address poverty.

This is part of the communique issued at the end of a two-day capacity-building workshop for the legislators on ‘Right Result Based Management’, held in Kano on Thursday.

The speaker, Nasir Yahaya-Daura, signed the communique.

The Katsina budget ministry organised the workshop in collaboration with the United Nations Children Funds (UNICEF).

According to the communique, the stakeholders also resolved to increase investment in the lives of the masses by appropriating more funds for SP services.

This is to narrow the gap between the less privileged and the privileged citizens. The parliament also agreed on applying a results-based approach in designing and implementing social protection programmes by the legislature, and efforts should be made to expedite the passage of the bill into law.
