Crime Ring Busted: Katsina Police Arrest Armed Robbers, Motorcycle Thieves, and Kidnappers

In a series of strategic operations, the Katsina State Police Command successfully dismantled several criminal syndicates involved in armed robbery, motorcycle theft, and kidnapping across the state, according to a report by the Public Relations Officer, ASP Sadiq Abubakar.
Following numerous reports of robberies in the Filin Polo quarters, the Katsina State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, swiftly mobilized a special task force. This operation resulted in the arrest of six notorious armed robbers identified as Ismail Hamza (alias Dawale), Umar Faruq Aliyu (alias Lauya), Yasir Jamilu (alias Kwame), Abu Safiyanu (alias Gije), Murtala Abubakar (alias Muri), and Bello Yusuf (alias Yellow).
On July 30, 2024, the syndicate, armed with dangerous weapons, broke into the residence of Muntari Usman and robbed him of ₦1,850,000. Additionally, on August 11, 2024, the gang, along with an accomplice currently at large, Dan Bichi, carried out further robberies, stealing livestock worth ₦220,000 and mobile phones from other victims. The police recovered the stolen money, livestock, and mobile phones. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
On August 17, 2024, based on credible intelligence, the police arrested five members of a motorcycle theft ring. The suspects, including Hamza Abdullahi (alias Malians) and Umar Usman, confessed to stealing motorcycles parked at mosques during prayers, dismantling them, and selling the parts. The police recovered a stolen motorcycle and other incriminating items during the operation.
In a separate operation on August 17, 2024, the police rescued a six-year-old boy who had been kidnapped three days earlier in Kofar Sauri quarters. The kidnapper, Halilu Yusuf, had demanded a ₦2,000,000 ransom from the boy's father. The police acted swiftly, leading to the suspect's arrest and the safe rescue of the victim.
On August 9, 2024, the Katsina State Police Command arrested Ibrahim Umar Gure, a notorious tricycle thief, after he stole a tricycle during Friday prayers. The police intercepted Gure on the Jibia-Katsina road, where he was found with the stolen tricycle. The suspect admitted to the crime and revealed the identities of his accomplices, who remain at large.
