First Lady Advocates Stern Action Against Kidnappers
March 14, 2024
In a bold stance against the rising scourge of kidnapping in Nigeria, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has unequivocally labeled kidnappers as cowards deserving of the death penalty.
Expressing her sentiments in response to recent reports of abductions, including the kidnapping of 200 women in Borno state and over 280 students and teachers in Kaduna state, Remi Tinubu minced no words in condemning the perpetrators.
"Anyone who kidnaps children is mentally ill, evil, and a coward," stated Remi Tinubu, emphasizing the gravity of the crime and its impact on innocent lives.
With a resolute tone, she called for decisive action from state governors, urging swift justice in the form of the death penalty for those found guilty of such heinous acts.
"Why don't they treat people according to their size? Why are they torturing our children? What they are trying to do is kill our lives," remarked Remi Tinubu, highlighting the devastating consequences of kidnapping on families and communities.
As a parent herself, Remi Tinubu underscored the significance of children in the lives of families, expressing dismay at the brazenness of targeting them for abduction.
"Why do you have to go and collect them from the schools, for now I think that's enough," she asserted, emphasizing the urgent need for stringent measures to deter kidnappers and protect vulnerable members of society.
Drawing from her experience as a former member of parliament, Remi Tinubu reiterated her belief that anyone caught engaging in kidnapping should face the ultimate penalty.
The impassioned plea from Remi Tinubu adds to the growing calls for decisive action against kidnapping, signaling a firm stance from Nigeria's leadership in combating this grave threat to security and stability.
