Bandits attacks: Katsina Governor seeks federal reinforcements

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has called on the federal government to provide additional reinforcements to combat the ongoing security crisis in the state.
Governor Radda made the call on Friday, following his visit to Wurma and Birci communities due to the devastating menace of bandits in the area lately.
The incessant attacks earlier in the day, provoked a protest in Birchi.
The call was contained in a statement issued by Radda’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed.
The Katsina Governor stressed the urgent need for reinforcements to effectively combat the banditry issue plaguing the state and region.
Accompanied by senior officials, Governor Radda toured the affected area and offered his heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and the entire community. He acknowledged the legitimacy of the recent protest sparked by the attack and urged residents to remain calm while the government takes action.
Meanwhile, while at Wurma, Governor Radda outlined ongoing efforts by his administration to address the security challenges. He mentioned the deployment of 100 security personnel to Birchi. He also promised to ensure daily sustenance for the affected victims of the community. He expressed his profound sorrow for the lives lost and the community’s emotional distress.
The community expressed appreciation for Governor Radda’s visit and leadership.
They acknowledged the ongoing challenges but pledged their continued support for the government’s efforts.
Governor Radda also appealed for peace and unity within the community, urging residents to collaborate with security forces to overcome the security crisis.
He reassured them of his administration’s commitment, working alongside security agencies, to apprehend the perpetrators and restore peace to Katsina State.
